Hornby have just made some additional new announcements for 2026 with new toolings and upgraded items galore, across their OO Gauge collection!


Hornby's new announcements cover everything from the earliest days of Britain's railways, right up to the present day - with the standouts including the much-requested Liverpool & Manchester Railway "Planet" 2-2-0 steam locomotive as well as a new edition of the Railroad Range Class 800 'IET' in the brand-new "Great British Railways" colour scheme.


Aside from these two models, there are plenty of other great new items to explore including new liveries for popular releases  as well as some upgraded new editions too.

NEW TOOL! L&MR 'PLANET' 2-2-0 STEAM LOCO

Hornby have unveiled an exciting addition to their growing range of Era 1 locomotives  with their new OO Gauge model of the much-requested Liverpool & Manchester Railway “Planet”.Representing one of the most important steps in early steam locomotive development, the original ' Planet' of 1830 introduced groundbreaking innovations including inside cylinders and the classic 2-2-0 wheel arrangement that would influence locomotive design for decades to come. Beautifully recreating this pioneering engine in OO Gauge, the new model is a perfect companion to Hornby’s popular Rocket and other L&MR stock.

NEW LIVERY! RAILROAD GBR CLASS 800 IET

Modern image modellers are also catered for with the announcement of the new Great British Railways liveried Class 800 IET in the Hornby Railroad range.Offering an affordable and accessible entry into contemporary OO Gauge modelling, the release includes a powered twin pack  alongside separately available intermediate coaches, allowing you to build complete formations. Finished in the striking all-new GBR branding which is being applied to the real life ' IETs', this new Railroad range model is ideal for those looking to recreate the current railway scene.

NEW STEAM GENERATOR LOCOMOTIVES

Hornby have also expanded their popular range of steam generator fitted locomotives  with four impressive new additions for LNER enthusiasts.The latest announcements include a Class A2/3, an Class A3, and two Class A4 Pacifics, all featuring Hornby's incredible steam generator system. These highly detailed releases capture the character of some of the East Coast Main Line’s most famous express locomotives! If the North East isn't quite your scene, Hornby are also releasing another new SR Merchant Navy 4-6-2 steam locomotive with this feature - depicting the popular "Clan Line".

NEW RELEASE! DUBLO MERCHANT NAVY 4-6-2

Hornby have also included a striking addition to their Hornby Dublo diecast range with the announcement of the SR Merchant Navy Class 4-6-2 in BR Blue, No. 35019 “French Line”. Presented in the distinctive late-era British Railways blue livery, this model captures one of the Southern Railway’s most powerful and iconic express locomotives, designed by Oliver Bulleid and later rebuilt for improved reliability under BR ownership. The diecast Dublo format further enhances the sense of weight and presence, making it a standout release for collectors who appreciate both historical significance and premium detailing within the range.

NEW BATCH! GWR SAINT CLASS 4-6-0 LOCOS

Great Western Railway fans are also treated to two new editions of the popular Saint Class locomotive, showcasing  two new Great Western liveried examples.The releases include “Coeur de Lion”, pre-fitted with Hornby's amazing steam generator system (the first Saint to receive this so far!), alongside “Hillingdon Court”. With their elegant lines and strong historical significance within GWR locomotive development, these new Saint Class models are certain to be welcome additions to your GWR collection.

NEW EDITION! CLASS 423 4-VEP EMU

Southern Region  modellers will also be pleased this new edition of the popular Class 423 4VEP EMU - catering for the “Gordon Pettitt” named set in BR blue. Named after the creator of Regional Railways, General Manager of the Southern Region and a major BR executive - Gordon Pettitt, and capturing the unmistakable appearance of these long-serving electric multiple units, the model celebrates one of the most recognisable commuter train designs to operate across the Southern network for decades.

NEW BATCH! LBSCR "TERRIERS" & COACHES

Next up, also for Southern region modellers we're pleased to present some new LBSCR Class A1/ A1X Terrier 0-6-0T steam locomotives in OO Gauge including a new LBSCR Umber liveried example as well as the popular "Fenchurch" in Newhaven Harbour Company livery.Alongside these, Hornby have also announced some new generic 4 & 6 wheel coaches in LBSCR lined brown to accompany your new locomotive.

NEW BATCH! GNR GREY CLASS J13 0-6-0ST

Hornby have also revealed a new edition of the Class J13 0-6-0ST in classic Great Northern Railway grey livery. This compact tank locomotive perfectly captures the character of the hardworking shunting engines used across the GNR network, and the elegant pre-grouping grey finish makes it a particularly distinctive release. Ideal for industrial scenes, goods yards and early-era layouts.

NEW BATCH! SR BULLEID TAVERN COACHES

Hornby have also introduced a new edition to their range of Bulleid 'Tavern Cars' (Kitchen & Buttery Coaches) - this time depicting the BR crimson and cream  liveried set named "At the Sign of the Dolphin" - providing you with yet more opportunities to run these distinctive coaches on your layout and recreate an interesting piece of BR history.

NEW BATCH! NETWORK SOUTHEAST COACHES

Complementing the growing range of Network SouthEast rolling stock, Hornby have also announced a pair of Mk1 coaches  finished in the ever-popular NSE livery. The new additions include a Brake Standard Corridor (BSK) and a Tourist Second Open (TSO), both ideal for recreating adding to your sectorisation era trains.

Hornby’s Railroad range  also sees several notable locomotive additions spanning both steam and diesel traction. Headlining the announcements is the ever-popular Class A1 “Tornado”, available in both standard DCC and DCC Sound fitted versions, offering an accessible way to enjoy one of Britain’s most famous modern steam locomotives in OO Gauge.Joining it are a GWR Class 10xx County and the classic LMS Class 3F “Jinty”, both supplied DCC Ready, while sectorisation-era enthusiasts can look forward to a new Class 73 Electro-Diesel  available in both DCC fitted and DCC Sound variants. Together, these releases continue to strengthen the Railroad range with a varied selection of affordable models for layouts across multiple eras.

NEW BATCHES! RAILROAD WAGONS

Rounding off the announcements, Hornby have introduced a selection of new additions to the Railroad rolling stock range  with several versatile wagon releases.These include two traditional 7 plank open wagons, a straightforward BR-era box van, and a pair of impressive 100-ton TEA tank wagons for modern image freight operations. Designed to offer affordable and durable rolling stock suitable for a wide variety of layouts, these latest Railroad wagons provide excellent options for budget conscious modellers.

Hornby have also expanded their digital control range with a duo of new DCC accessories aimed at enhancing the performance for your layouts. Among the highlights is the new Powerbank “Maxi” stay-alive unit, designed to help provide smoother running and reduce interruptions caused by dirty track or complex pointwork. Also announced is a new HM7000 6-pin non-sound decoder.
