History:
The ‘Jinty’ was a development of earlier Midland Railway 0-6-0Ts, with 422 built between 1924 and 1931 under Henry Fowler. Used for freight work and shunting, they could reach speeds of up to 60mph. Entering service as No. 16440 in July 1926, this was one of a batch built for the LMS by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow.
It was renumbered 7357 in 1934 and under BR became No. 47357. Withdrawn from Liverpool Edge Hill in December 1966, it went to Barry scrapyard in South Wales, from where it was purchased by the Midland Railway Centre in 1970 and restored at Derby Works, carrying LMS crimson lake livery.
