Hornby have just unlocked FREE new DCC sound profiles for the Class 121 'Bubble Car' and Class 153 'Sprinter' diesel multiple units, now available through their HMDCC app.

These professionally recorded sound projects bring authentic engine notes, idling sounds, horns, and operational effects to life — perfect for UPGRADING your multiple unit fleet. The best part? While not strictly 100% prototypical, you could utilise these new sound profiles with a range of similar first & second generation multiple unit classes, many of which we currently have in stock here at Rails of Sheffield.

Whether you’re upgrading an existing model to DCC sound or starting fresh with a brand-new unit, now is the ideal time to make an UPGRADE!

HOW DOES IT WORK

All you need to do is buy an applicable Hornby HM7000 decoder (linked below!). These bluetooth decoders are controlled either by mobile device or with your own DCC controller.

You will need the Hornby HMDCC app on your smartphone to download the sound profiles to the decoder via bluetooth - once they're flashed over, you're ready to go!

Aside from the two new sound profiles mentioned here, there are hundreds of other sounds  to discover on the HM DCC app for UK outline steam locomotives, diesels, electrics, multiple units and even some international vehicles too! HM7000 offers a cost effective and simple way to bring DCC Sound to your collection.

NEW! CLASS 121 SOUND PROFILE

First off we've got the SD060 'Class 121' Sound profile - now available in the app! This evokes the sound of this classic first generation multiple unit with their characterful diesel-mechanical Leyland mechanism. If you're looking for a cheap sound solution for other first gen units then the profile can also be applicable for the other units listed below.

Secondly, Hornby have also now released their SD063 'Class 153' sound profile too! This profile covers a totally different era, when the second generation of multiple units came into action in the 80s and 90s. As with the above profile, this offers a cheap sound solution for a variety of other multiple units aside from just the '153s' - see more below!
