Background information:
The AEC Routemaster, first introduced in 1954, impressed with its innovative design. What was particularly characteristic was the open entry platform, which made it possible to get in and out quickly. The bus became a symbol of London and plied the streets of the capital for almost 50 years before ceasing service in 2005.
