From around 1975 a number of 16t mineral wagons were converted to carry heavy castings used in the steel production industry. These castings were placed on a layer of ballast inside the wagon to cushion the load. Our model therefore represents a typical example form the period, the swansong of the 16t mineral, as they were eventually phased out of service completely during the 1980s.
As with others in the series this all-new tooling model features fine moulding and printing detail, detachable PECO “Elsie” couplers so that alternatives can be used if required, and smooth-running metal-tired wheels. The best part about mineral wagons is that modellers need lots of them, so this is a volume sale generator! Make sure you have them in stock; they’ll always be in demand!
