Product Description
BMC unveiled the front engine, front-wheel drive Austin/Morris 1300 GT at the London Motor Show in 1969. Designed by the legendary Alec Issigonis, key features included a 1275 cc twin carburettor engine, a black full width grille, black vinyl roof and a thick black metal strip along the side, all designed to convey a sporty image. In 1971 the Mark III version appeared, lasting in production until 1974 when the range was superseded by the Austin Allegro and the Vanden Plas 1500.
A popular model in our Oxford 1:76 series, this colour scheme on the Austin 1300 GT is a delightful watery shade of blue with black roof and lots of silver masking. Registered RVB 740L from 1972, our 1:76 scale replica sports a steel blue interior with black dashboard and steering wheel. Further details include the Austin name is printed at the top of the black and silver radiator grille, with its GT status is printed in red on the grille and also behind the rear side windows. The boot lid carries the 1300 GT marque to the right of the rear registration plate.
