In autumn 2018, the campus of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) began operations with 3700 students and 800 employees. So that not everyone had to travel to Muttenz at the same time, the lectures for around a third of them started a little later. In order not to disadvantage these students and to relieve commuter traffic, the SBB made it possible for two corresponding InterRegio trains to stop in Muttenz since then. As an externally visible advertising medium for the partnership between the railway company and the university, the RABe 521 017 was provided with advertising for the university of applied sciences and christened “Muttenz”.
