History:

The first ‘TEA’ bogie oil tank wagons were built in the 1960s by the Standard Wagon Company and Charles Roberts & Co. Ltd and these were first leased to oil companies for transporting heavy oil from seaports to refineries and to oil storage depots. A significant number of these vehicles were operated by Shell/BP, including this example which carries Shell branding.
