Product Description

Some 1,100 SPA wagons were built between 1979 and 1981 to carry steel plate wagon. Whilst some later found themselves in departmental use which resulted in a change of TOPS code, by 2005 the number of SPAs still in service stood at 681, 200 of which carried departmental TOPS codes. Alongside wagons in original Railfreight livery, some received repaints into modern schemes like EWS and Network Rail – the latter depicted by this model.

The Graham Farish SPA wagon is a fine rendition of the prototype, from the body sides and ends with their rib detailing, through to the underframe which sports several separately fitted components to model the brake apparatus. NEM coupling pockets house the standard N scale couplings, whilst the metal wheelsets ensure that smooth running is guaranteed.
