History
Summers Bogie Hopper Wagon. Introduced in the early 1950’s these hopper wagons were used to transport iron ore from Bidston Docks, Birkenhead to John Summers Ltd Steel Works at Shotton, North Wales. The wagons were manufactured by Charles Roberts & Co. Ltd of Wakefield & where used with many locomotives. The last train to BSC Shotton from Bidston ran on 2nd April 1980.
