Product Description

Originally numbered 284, this was one of 20 Railcoaches that were built in 1937 and entered service in July of that year. These were single-deck cars that were designed in the similar style of the original English Electric Railcoaches. In 1968 the 20 Railcoaches were renumbered, with 284 becoming what is now known has 621.In1985 it had it’s first all over advert livery for Blackpool Pleasure Beach, many other designs would be used in the next 18 years, and as depicted with this model, the Interflora livery being used in the mid 1990’s, it’s last liverybeing the hugely popular Hot Ice shows.

This Railcoach was withdrawn from passenger service in 2004. It was kept in storage and sold to the Fleetwood Heritage Leisure Trust. The Beamish Museum bought it in 2014 but returned it to Blackpool in 2016. In 2017 it was back in service on the Fleetwood route, restored to it’s more traditional cream and green livery of the 1950’s.
