The Circuitron DT-2 is a premium-grade train detection system engineered to deliver the most realistic grade crossing operation possible on DC-powered model railways. Unlike conventional optical detection systems, the DT-2 incorporates sophisticated onboard memory circuitry that continuously tracks train movements through the protected area. Once an approaching train is detected, the crossing remains activated until the final vehicle has completely cleared the crossing, creating highly realistic operation without requiring sensors to remain covered throughout the train's passage.

The system also recognises more complex operating scenarios. If a train approaches a crossing, stops before reaching it and then reverses away, the DT-2 automatically detects the movement and deactivates the crossing protection, closely mirroring prototype railway signalling behaviour. This advanced logic provides a level of operational realism that is difficult to achieve with basic detection systems.

Supplied with four Opto-Sensors for a standard installation, the DT-2 offers fully bi-directional operation and can be powered from either AC or DC supplies.
