The Awto WAS (Volga Automobile Plant), a state-owned automobile factory based in Togliatti, Russia, produced the Shiguli or Lada 2101 model based on the Fiat 124. 200,000 units of the 60 hp Lada rolled off the production line in its first year of production. The former iconic vehicle of the GDR can still be seen on the roads today.
