Product Description

The China Railways QJ locomotives were constructed between 1956 and 1988, and more than 4,700 engines were completed during this period, making the QJ the most numerous class of steam locomotive to run in China. By the late-1980s these large 2-10-2 machines had come to dominate China’s main lines, hauling the vast majority of freight trains and a considerable number of passenger services too. However, China soon moved towards diesel and electric traction and quickly the QJs were being displaced from primary and secondary services, resulting in many entering private and industrial ownership including several that were offloaded to the Jitong Railway in Inner Mongolia where the QJ’s remained in operation until 2005. In fact, it was on the Jitong Railway that the world’s last mainline steam train service operated on 8th December 2005, marking the end of scheduled mainline steam services and the final use of QJs on the Jitong Railway.

This Bachmann China model brings the famous QJ to N Scale for the first time as a highly detailed, scale replica of the 2-10-2 giant. This impressive model boasts a high level of detail and is fitted with working lights at the front and rear.
