Rapido Trains UK Â have revealed their latest announcements and project updates for October 2026, and there's plenty of exciting news to share!Â
Headlining this month's update are THREE brand-new toolings, including the Midland Railway M Class steam locomotive and accompanying Diagram 299 5-plank and Diagram 301 6-plank open wagons, bringing even more variety to Rapido's ever-growing range of highly detailed models.
Alongside these exciting new announcements, Rapido have also shared fresh progress updates on a host of existing projects, giving us a closer look at what's coming further down the line. There are also important order book deadlines approaching, plus plenty of other news to catch up on. MIDLAND RAILWAY M CLASS 0-6-0 NEW TOOLING ANNOUNCEMENT
Following the popularity of Rapido's MR 483 Class 4-4-0, they've returned to this flourishing region and bolstered their pre-grouping freight fleet with another majestic Midlander! The Class 'M' 0-6-0 was designed by Samuel Waite Johnson and it was so successful that it became the MR's premier freight locomotive - although being vacuum-brake equipped they could also work passenger trains too!
Rapido's range caters for the locomotives with their original 'B' boilers in a variety of liveries including Midland, S&DJR, LMS, M&GNJR and LNER conditions. You can look forward to Rapido's usual robust and smooth mechanism, enhanced with a MoPower Stay-Alive, plunger pickups, 21-pin DCC socket & factory fitted speaker plus firebox flicker!

MIDLAND D299/ D301 5 & 6-PLANK WAGONS NEW TOOLING ANNOUNCEMENT
Seen as Rapido have just announced a brand new Midland freight locomotive, then it would be amiss if they didn't announce some newly tooled appropriate wagons for it to haul! Welcome to the new Midland Railway Open Wagon range comprising of Diagram 299 8-Ton 5-Plank and Diagram 301 10-Ton 6-Plank vehicles.
Both types will feature the usual wealth of external, internal and underframe detailing Rapido are renowned for. There are multiple tooling variations including different axleboxes, handbrakes, door stops and bottom doors. You can choose from a massive range of variations including Midland, S&DJR, LSWR, SECR, H&BR, PD&SW, WC&PR, PLA, MSC and NSFF liveries. Pre-order yours today!

CLASS 45/ 46 'PEAK' DIESEL LOCOMOTIVES ENGINEERING SAMPLES
Moving over to something completely different, Rapido have revealed engineering samples of their upcoming Class 45 & Class 46 'Peak' diesel locomotives in TT:120 Scale! TT:120 is an entirely new challenge for Rapido so there are plenty of things to test on these samples prior to production but we're sure you'll agree they're already looking very smart!
The 'Peaks' are a real fan favourite, so it's fantastic to see them coming to TT:120 for the first time ever! You can pair them with a variety of in-stock and forthcoming rolling stock including Hornby Mark 1s and Peco's ever-expanding wagon range.

GWR CLASS 10xx 'COUNTY' 4-6-0 STEAM LOCO PRODUCTION SAMPLES
A bit of a stop press before Rapido's announcements were revealed is the latest production samples of their upcoming GWR Class 10xx 'County' 4-6-0 in OO Gauge! These are here for Rapido to review before the final models are assembled. Every livery has been showcased here including the fun 'what if?' BR express blue variant.
We expect to see some more photos of these in the near future and the project is shaping up very well indeed for release in 2027.

GCR CLASS 1 'SAM FAY' 4-6-0 STEAM LOCO FACTORY TEST SHOTS
Also new today, we're excited to share a progress update on our EXCLUSIVE Great Central Railway Class 1 (LNER Class B2) 'Sam Fay' 4-6-0 steam locomotive in OO Gauge! Rapido have seen these test shots of the diecast body parts for the model fresh out of the mould. These will be used soon to build the first prototype samples and we cannot wait to see them!

GREAT CENTRALÂ 15 TON BRAKE VANS COMING SOON
There's very little time left to wait for the newly tooled range of OO Gauge Great Central Railway 15 Ton 6-Wheel Brake Vans as these have now arrived in the UK and are expected to arrive at Rails within the next week or so! This beautiful new range of vans includes 16 variations in GCR, CLC, LNER, BR and NCBÂ liveries!

LMS D1832A/ D1663 12 TON GOODS VANS COMING SOON
Also expected to arrive imminently is the newly tooled range of OO Gauge LMS D1832A and D1663 12 Ton Goods Vans! These have also arrived in the UK and pending QC checks will arrive with us next week all being well! There are a whopping 23 variations to choose from charting their entire lives in LMS, BR and Departmental colour schemes.
