Die-cast metal footplate - this gives rigidity and weight to the loco body. What you see here has been cleaned up ready for assembly, the parts are cast with large heatsink protrusions to ensure an accurate result.
Die-cast chassis block showing the mounting for the motor and gearbox - the boiler and smokebox are also metal giving the Victory an all-up weight around 280 grams.
Injection moulded side frames being spray painted - these are actually the correct black colour, the silver effect is just a trick of the light!
Detail part sprue. In many ways a ready-to-run loco is formed from similar materials to a kit you might make yourself - all of the small plastic components are sprued and moulded in groups.
