We're excited to reveal that KR Models are producing a new run of their Consett Iron Ore Bogie Hopper Wagons in OO Gauge!
This new run brings back this fan-favourite wagon with new running numbers AND for the first time-ever you can choose factory weathered versions too. These are on the way from the factory and expected during Q1 2026.
The original run proved very popular with all packs selling out quickly. The prototypes ran between Tyne Dock and Consett steelworks keeping the furnaces supplied with the raw iron ore for steel production. These behemoths were very different from any wagon that ran on the network, and are suitable for a wide variety of traction, ranging from the ex NER Q7, through the mighty 9F and on to pairs of class 24s and finally class 37s

Prototype Information
The fleet of 56 ton 'Consett' iron ore carrying wagons were produced by British Railways to fulfill a contract between BR and the Consett Iron Ore Company of the North East. Iron ore was unloaded at Tyne Docks by ship and was unloaded into bunkers for transfer by rail to the Consett Iron works. The vehicles replaced the ageing fleet of LNER 21 ton hoppers and featured air-powered doors for unloading at a quicker rate. The wagons were retired in the mid 1970s and replaced with far larger 100 ton PTA wagons.
