Heljan's newly tooled O Gauge SR Utility Vans (PMVs/ CCTs) have now arrived in stock here at Rails of Sheffield!
As you can see, they're a colourful and varied bunch, covering a wide range of detail variations across both the PLV/PMV and CCT types. Even planked, uneven planked and plywood bodied options are available, coupled with even or uneven planked doors for extra realism.
Featuring superb decoration and detail, compensated axles for smooth running, sprung screw link couplings and sprung buffers and lots of separately fitted details they'll be an asset to any O gauge layout.
These versatile general purpose vans were used right across the country between the 1930s and 1980s, from Cornwall to the Far North of Scotland and everywhere in between to carry luggage, mail, parcels, newspaper, pigeons and much more! And some lasted even longer in departmental service, surviving into the 1990s and beyond - we've included a couple of interesting BR engineers' vehicles to maximise the appeal of these gorgeous models.
All liveries have been produced in small quantities and pre-orders are strong, especially for the most popular versions.

The diagram 960 PLVs were a series of Passenger Luggage Van, built by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway (SE&CR) from 1919. The Southern Railway constructed a number of similar vehicles to Diagram 3103, later designated as PMVs, Parcels and miscellaneous Vans. Further batches were turned out by British Railways as CCTs, Covered Carriage Trucks, until 1951. All types saw revenue earning service until 1986, with some examples remaining in departmental service into the following decade. Several examples have been preserved.
