From characterful motorised road-rail vehicles to working colour light signals and detailed brass water cranes, there's plenty to explore if you're looking to add something a little different to your railway.

The MTC road-rail vehicles are a particular highlight. Based on a Chinese prototype, these compact machines could make an unusual addition to an overseas or freelance layout, or provide a novelty visitor to a UK scene. Choose from orange and yellow versions with small or large windows, alongside a grey version, with both DC and DCC fitted models listed.

There's plenty packed into these little vehicles, including brass cabs and bodies, die-cast chassis and smooth-running motors. Working lighting includes cab illumination, rear marker lights and a functioning roof-mounted rotating light, adding extra interest as they travel around the layout. Knuckle couplers are fitted, with an alternative European coupler supplied in the detail pack. DC versions are priced at £60, with DCC fitted versions at £80.

Alongside the vehicles, MTC's working colour light signals offer another way to bring your railway to life. The selection includes two, three, four and five-aspect designs covering distant, shunting, block, yard and home signal applications, plus a single-track signal gantry. Brass construction and fine etched detailing accompany the working lights, while a supplied control PCB provides straightforward plug-and-play operation with analogue and digital systems. Individual signals start from £35, with the gantry priced at £85.

For steam-era scenes, take a look at the posable brass water cranes. Two designs are listed in black and grey finishes at £25 each, offering an attractive detail for a locomotive servicing area. Position one alongside a suitable steam locomotive to create a focal point around your shed or station.

There's even something for the railway enthusiast's desk! MTC's fully functioning replica locomotive bells feature natural wood bases and brass detailing, with plain brass and red-and-black versions listed at £40 each. They could make a distinctive gift or an addition to your own railway collection.
