HISTORY

In 1939, Mr Charles Brook went to collect his photos and noticed that the shopkeeper had accidentally labelled them ‘Seabrook’ instead of ‘C Brook’. When he opened his first fish & chip shop in Bradford, Charles decided to name it Seabrook.

Charles’ son Colin returned from the Navy and together they discovered that with their fryer they could diversify their use of the humble potato. Seabrook Crisps was born producing Britain’s original crinkle cut crisps.

Charles and Colin moved into their first factory- a one up one down terrace house in Bradford. Seabrook began delivering crisps door to door, before launching the UK’s first crinkle-cut crisps.

Charles and Colin converted the old Allerton liberal club in Bradford into their new factory, at the same time as incorporating the company. The World Crisp Eating Competition took place in Bradford, sponsored by Seabrook Crisps.

Seabrook purchased a site at Duncombe St, Bradford and 2 years later opened the Princeville Factory.

The first Prawn Cocktail crinkle-cut crisp was made. Seabrook were the first to use sunflower oil to cook their crisps.

MSG removed by reformulating the flavours. At the same time, all e-numbers and any unnecessary artificial ingredients were removed.

Seabrook crisps certified by Coeliac UK and changed all their crisps to carry the gluten free cross grain logo of coeliac UK. All crisps are also confirmed vegetarian friendly.

In October 2018, Seabrook Crisps Limited were acquired by Calbee inc., the leading snack brand in Japan as part of their ambitious international growth plans and they introduced a flavour packed snacking range.

'We are very proud and excited that Seabrook Crisps are back on TV! We hope to lift the nation with this feel-good campaign which captures our unique charm and personality, delivering 'Brilliant By The Bagful.''
