Rapido Trains UK have just unleashed their June 2025 news update which includes a HUGE assortment of project updates and a new announcement too! 

What's more, our friends at Rapido recently invited us down to check out all of their new samples for ourselves - which you can see in our latest Rails TV video below.

We recently had the opportunity to come down to Rapido's base in the South of England to observe all of their latest product samples  including their new announcement below... and most importantly PLAY TRAINS on their massive new layout! 

First up today, we are excited to reveal Rapido's latest newly tooled wagon - an advancement of their 1907 Railway Clearing House project  - the Peaked Roof Salt Van in OO Gauge! An assortment of 15 different wagons  are available to pre-order now in many of the colourful and vibrant liveries these iconic vehicles would have been seen in throughout their lives. 

As with other Rapido wagons, these will feature the usual high attention to detail, many different tooling variations including different underframes, buffers, wheels and more.

Here's one we know many of you have been waiting for - the first engineering sample for Rapido's all-new Caledonian Railway 'Single' No.123. This exquisite locomotive is to be produced in Caledonian Railway light blue , LMS maroon and 'what if?' BR black  liveries. 

In case you missed it, we also recently announced our own EXCLUSIVE version of this model - depicting No.123 in Caledonian Railway dark blue.  All of these models are perfect to pair with Rapido's forthcoming Evolution coaches!

Moving on to something completely different, Rapido have now received initial decorated samples for their adorable new range of Ivor the Engine themed models!  

Two special edition packs  will be produced including a Train Pack  with the eponymous 'Ivor' and two wagons (available DCC Ready or Sound Fitted) and a Rolling Stock Pack  including a hopper wagon, flat wagon and a coach.

Rapido have also received decorated samples  for their newly tooled Port of Par Bagnall 0-4-0 saddle tank locomotives in OO Gauge! These utterly unique tiny steam engines were built to fit underneath an incredibly low bridge on their line. They were the last working steam locos in Cornwall and have a cult following - thanks in part to the Reverend W. Awdry immortalising them as 'Bill and Ben' in his railway stories.

In other small steam locomotive news, Rapido have revealed decorated samples for some of their forthcoming Andrew Barclay Fireless 0-4-0 steam locomotives. These fascinating locos were tiny yet rugged and were designed for use specifically where a traditional steam locomotive would be too dangerous, such as sites dealing with explosive materials.

During our visit to Rapido , we also got to take a look at the first decorated samples  for their newly tooled range of Manning Wardle L Class 0-6-0ST steam locomotives!  These quirky little engines are to be produced in various colourful liveries - incorporating many tooling variations such as open/ closed cabs and numerous other details too.

Moving over to N Gauge , and following on from the release of the Class 44 diesel locomotives, Rapido have now received d ecorated samples for their Class 45 and Class 46 'Peak' diesels too - including BR green, BR blue and BR Research Department liveried examples.

While we were visiting Rapido , we also took a closer look at the latest engineering samples  for their gargantuan USATC S160 2-8-0 steam locomotive in OO Gauge! We also got to take a look at the box for one of our  EXCLUSIVE  models which is looking very special indeed.
