Rapido Trains UK have just revealed their latest news updates for January 2026 - including a big new tooling announcement - a massive range of OO Gauge Great Central Railway 19ft Wagons!
Aside from this they've also issued some updates on existing projects in both OO Gauge and N Gauge - so read on for all of the latest.
NEW TOOLINGS - OO Gauge GCR 19' WAGONS RANGE
The big announcement this month is a MASSIVE new range of Great Central Railway 19ft Wagons in OO Gauge - including newly tooled Diagram 17B Covered Vans, Diagram 9A/9B 6-Plank Open wagons and Diagram 6C 3-Plank Open wagons.
In total there are 36 different models to choose from including pre-grouping GCR and Cheshire Lines Committee liveries, War Department variations and Big-Four era/ Post-nationalisation era LNER, LMS and British Rail colour schemes.

Rapido have also just revealed decorated samples of their long awaited N Gauge LNER Dynamometer Cars - as you can see these are shaping up to be something incredible for N Gauge modellers - and look just as good as the previous OO Gauge versions!

OO Gauge GNR 8 TON GOODS VAN DECO SAMPLES
Next up, Rapido have also just received decorated samples of their newly tooled Great Northern Railway 8-Ton Goods Vans in OO Gauge, which nicely complement their new 'J52' locomotives that arrived late last year! There are only a small number of revisions to be made and the models are on track for completion in Q1 2026 - and will arrive in the UK soon after.

OO Gauge LNWR D84/D90 OPEN WAGONS DECO SAMPLES
Switching over to the West Coast, Rapido have also shown off decorated samples of their upcoming London & North Western Railway Diagram 84/ 90 open wagons in OO Gauge! The range includes tooling variations for Loco Coal versions and General Merchandise wagon types. There are lots of liveries to choose from including LNWR, LMS, BR, RNAD and PLA examples too. These are currently slated to arrive during Q2 2026.

OO Gauge LT/ METROPOLITAN 'EVOLUTION' SAMPLES
Next up, Rapido have also showcased some updated engineering samples of their second batch of Evolution Bogie Coaches in OO Gauge, showcasing the subtle tooling changes made for the London Transport and Metropolitan Railway examples. This has involved removing the duckets and luggage door windows and adding round-topped passenger doors to better reflect how these vehicles looked in active service.

OO Gauge ANDREW BARCLAY FIRELESS IN STOCK NOW
In case you missed it, earlier this week we received Rapido's highly anticipated Andrew Barclay 'Caledonia' Fireless 0-4-0 locomotives into stock! OO Gauge EVOLUTION COACHES BATCH 1 DUE SOON
Hot on the heels of Stage 1 of Batch 1 of Rapido's newly tooled 'Evolution' coaches which is expected to arrive very soon - Rapido have advised that Stage 2 isn't far behind! This second batch includes Midland Railway, Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway and Great Northern Railway variations. Delivery is expected during Q2 2026.

OO Gauge USATC S160 2-8-0 PROJECT UPDATE
Finally, Rapido have also offered an update on their highly anticipated USATC 'S160' 2-8-0 steam locomotives in OO Gauge. They have been reviewing the impressive decorated samples and have a few revisions for the factory - including a change to diecast running boards, rather than plastic. There will be no price increase in this changed but the delivery schedule has been pushed back slightly due to Chinese New Year.
