It received its TOPS number, 37267, in May 1974 while allocated to Stratford Depot. After moving to Plymouth Laira, it was used on China Clay trains in the late 1970s before receiving modifications in 1985, including new Brush alternator and ETS (Electric Train Supply) as one of the ‘37\/4’ subclass, renumbered 37421. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe entire ‘37\/4’ subclass passed to Transrail Freight, one of three BR regional freight-operating companies prior to privatisation.
