were the first such trains to be built en-masse for British Railways. The units were built at BR's Derby Works from 1954 to 1955. The units were built in various formations, including 12 power-twin 2-car units, 84 power-trailer 2-car units, and four 4-car units. The first units were introduced on services around the West Riding of Yorkshire, namely Leeds to Bradford and Harrogate services from 14 June 1954. Subsequent units were introduced onto services in West Cumbria, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Newcastle to Middlesbrough, Edinburgh to Glasgow and, later, Birmingham to Sutton Coldfield, Bletchley to Buckingham and Banbury, and East London lines services. They were also the last units to run on the Anglesey Central Railway which closed to public traffic in 1964.
These units were an outstanding success, helping to reduce the operating costs of branchlines. Initially they also attracted many more passengers. Between February and October 1956 on the London Midland, they carried 800,000 more passengers than steam in the same period of 1955. The largest increases were on the Buckingham-Banbury, Birmingham-Lichfield, Bury-Bacup, Llandudno-Blaenau Ffestiniog and Manchester-Buxton routes. As such, British Railways ordered many more DMU vehicles from various builders over the next decade, thus helping to eliminate steam locomotives. However, as these units were non-standard compared to other later DMU vehicles, they were subject to early retirement. The last units were withdrawn from normal traffic in 1969, having clocked-up 15 years front line service.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0225/2858/9896/files/IMG_3456_4ded48d7-bc12-41c8-80ec-eb693d1cfa14.jpg?v=1732794345
bachmann-32-929sf-class-1501-2-car-dmu-150115-br-provincial-original-dcc-sound
32-929SR Class 150/1 2-Car DMU 150115 BR Provincial (Original) - DCC Ready

Please note: This locomotive was originally DCC sound fitted, however the decoder has been removed and is now just DCC ready.

Bringing a splash of colour to the Bachmann Branchline range is this Class 150/1 2-Car DMU in the vibrant blue livery of BR Provincial.

Formed of two vehicles – one of which is motorised - this Diesel Multiple Unit will brighten up any collection and features a high level of detailing across the bodyshells, underframes and bogies. A total of 137 units were produced in three main subclasses, replacing many of the earlier, first generation ‘heritage’ DMUs. The first subclass, the 150/0, comprised a pair of prototype units.

The second batch which comprised fifty units was classified 150/1s and numbered in the range 150101-150. Like the prototype units, they did not have front-end corridor connectors which are fitted to allow passengers to move between units when working in multiple. Originally based at Derby Etches Park depot, these units were introduced in 1986, mainly concentrated around Birmingham and Manchester, and in later years restricted mainly to commuter services. Today the entire fleet is concentrated on the Northern franchise, mainly working around Manchester to places like Buxton, Sheffield, Liverpool, Southport and Carnforth.

The final batch of 85 two car units were built with front-end corridor connectors. These units were classified as Class 150/2s and numbered in the range 150201-285. The Class 150/2s were used on longer-distance services and have operated in Scotland, Wales, the West of England and the North.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0225/2858/9896/files/IMG_1189_1effe05e-63a2-44af-9937-8b462dd0fba7.jpg?v=1701363341
bachmann-34-725a-bulleid-semi-open-brake-third-10-vents-in-southern-railway-malachite-green
34-725A SR Bulleid Brake Third Semi-Open 10'' Vents SR Malachite Green No.4342

The all-new Bachmann Branchline Bulleid Coaches have been designed from the rails up and these stunning models capture every element of Bulleid’s modernistic design to a tee. As a result, the Mk1 family has carried the widest range of liveries of any passenger rated rolling stock, with only private owner wagons presenting a greater variety in UK railway history. Mk1s have worn BR Carmine and Cream, BR Western Region Chocolate and Cream, BR Southern Green, BR Maroon, BR Blue, Blue and Grey, InterCity Executive, InterCity Charter, Network South East, Regional Railways, ScotRail, Sealink, Departmental, BR Exhibitions, Royal Mail, Travelling Post Office, Rail Express Systems, Provincial Trans Pennine, Parcels Red, West Highland Green and Cream, not to say a myriad of post-privatisation and heritage colour schemes in preservation. Many Mk1s also found further use with the engineers and Research Departments, and these departmental uses are also presented in the range.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0225/2858/9896/files/IMG_6594_29fb6a9f-2143-45cb-90db-6972ece00627.jpg?v=1713605858
bachmann-39-603-secr-60ft-birdcage-brake-third-lavatory-sr-malachite-green
39-603 SE&CR 60ft Birdcage Brake Third Lavatory SR Malachite Green 3527

Highlights

both bodyside window configurations tooled for

flush-glazed

correct window corner radii

fully detailed interior with partitions

saloon tables

lavatories appropriate to prototype

fully decorated seating painted in accurate colours

exquisite underframe detailing

finely mounded brake details

4 sets of very finely moulded queen post truss rodding and turnbuckles

Dynamos and battery boxes fitted to the SE&CR composite as prototype

Dynamos fitted to the SR / BR Composite and the Brake Third as per prototype

all new well detailed 8ft Heavy Fox coil spring bolster bogies

metal wheels sets and pin point axles running in metal bearings

Detachable couplings in NEM pockets

close coupling mechanism

Separately applied fittings include:

roof vents

vacuum pipes

handrails

grab handles

lamp irons and brake control apparatus (Brake coaches only)

History

Sixty-two 60ft three coach ‘birdcage’ sets were introduced by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway (SE&CR) between 1912 and 1915. The ordering of the first Class 59 was a result of quarry company Foster Yeoman’s dissatisfaction with the performance of the BR Class 56. The first 4 locomotives built by GM’s Electromotive Division were delivered to Foster Yeoman during 1986 and 59005 in 1989.

Proving very successful; one locomotive setting a new UK haulage record for a single locomotive of 4639 tonnes. Foster Yeoman’s rivals, Amey Roadstone Corp. (ARC) also ordered four modified Class 59s (59/1) as did National Power, who ordered six (59/2). GM invested in this initial UK success by extensively modifying the class 59 internally to produce the Class 66, also hugely successful, within both the UK and continental Europe. Other than 59003 (which after return from loan to HHPI in Germany, is operated by GBRf), the Class 59 fleet is operated today by DB Schenker and Mendip Rail (an ARC and FY joint venture).

MODEL
These great little models feature lots of details including etched grills, directional lighting, and finely printed external logos and numbering.

FEATURES

DCC Fitted

Clag smoke simulation on initial acceleration

Finely moulded body with many applied fine details

Printed name plates (Etched plates supplied separately)

Cast wheels with fine relief and appropriate colouring

Heavy diecast chassis

All wheel pick up

Independently directional lights and cab lighting incorporated

NEM Coupling pockets

SPECIFICATIONS

CLASS 59

LIVERY DB Schenker

ERA 10 (2005 Onwards)

WHEEL CONFIGURATION Co-Co

DCC TYPE DCC Fitted

TRACK SUPPLY DCC

FINISH Pristine

MEASUREMENTS

LENGTH OVER BUFFER 278mm

WIDTH 34mm

HEIGHT 49mm

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0225/2858/9896/products/MG_1746_67e23974-f1b7-4fcd-a5ec-e09bfef6269a.jpg?v=1670599043
dapol-4d-022-012-class-68-chiltern-68015-in-chiltern-railways-livery-early-service
4D-022-012 Class 68 Chiltern 68015 in Chiltern Railways livery early service Diesel Locomotive

The Class 68 is a new style of diesel-electric locomotive commissioned by DRS to haul both intermodal and passenger stock. It supports DCC as well as Motorola®, Selectrix® and M4. Of course it supports 14 through to 128 speed steps as well as 2 and 4 digit addresses in DCC format and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus® the decoders register themselves fully automatically on suitable command stations.

This decoder supports all DCC programming modes and thanks to RailCom® you may read out the CV values on the main, provided you have a command station supporting RailCom®. Three additional Motorola® addresses facilitate triggering of 16 functions. An integral programming mode even allows programming with the good old Central Unit 6021.

The M4 protocol supports the automatic registration on mfx® compatible central units.

The LokSound 5 decoder supports the Märklin® braking sections just as well as the ZIMO® HLU braking commands or the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake generators or with DC is also possible. Furthermore the locomotive with a LokSound will come to a halt when a Selectrix® braking diode is switched into the circuit. The ABC push-pull feature enables the automatic commuting between two stations.

The LokSound 5 decoder is also suitable for analogue DC and AC (!) layouts.

Sound
The LokSound 5 decoder can reproduce up to 10 channels simultaneously. Each channel offers up to 16 Bit / 31250 kHz and thus we have finally achieved hi-fi sound quality on your layout. For all practical purposes one cannot detect any difference to the original. A class D audio power amplifier with up to 3W output power feeds the speakers with a permitted impedance of 4 – 32 Ohms. The huge 128 MBit sound memory assures sufficient storage capacity.

The volume of all individual sound fragments may be adjusted separately. The outstandingly flexible sound engine without a rigid flow chart facilitates a prototypical simulation of all conceivable rail vehicles. The decoders with PluX22 or 21MTC interface have an additional 4 outputs for controlling servos or as logic outputs. Of course, all important lighting functions are supported. The brightness of each output may be adjusted separately. The decoder supports the automatic push and pull movements – known as the coupler waltz - required for reliable operation of digital couplers such as the ones by ROCO® and Krois® as well as Telex® couplers.

Motor control
Motor control of the LokSound 5 has been further improved. A variable PWM pulse frequency ranging from 10 kHz to 50 kHz assures perfect silent operation, particularly for coreless motors. Thus the typical hum is a thing of the past. Load control can now be adjusted with up to 10 separate CVs and thus will manage even the most difficult cases. The unique “Auto Tune” function facilitates the automatic calibration of the decoder to perfectly match the motor. The LokSound 5 decoder supplies up to 1.5A motor current, which is quite sufficient even for older motor types.

LokSound 5 DCC
The LokSound 5 DCC is made for the North American and Australian markets. L&CR had included proposals for combined international and domestic stations at Stratford and Ebbsfleet in its tender document. The idea of providing high speed domestic services on to Medway and East Kent was seen as a catalyst for regeneration of these areas.

After several years of procrastination and doubts over government rail spending, by October 2003 the Strategic Rail Authority had outlined plans for domestic services to Ashford, Canterbury, Folkestone, Thanet and Medway with Swale, Dover, Maidstone and Sandwich being added subsequently, once the Government had given CTRL domestic services the green light on 27 October 2004. In 2002, Japan's Hitachi Rail were looking for opportunities to transfer skills and technology to the UK and anticipating that new rolling stock would be required for CTRL, created the V-Train 1 project to test and prove their 'A' Train technology on AC and DC supply for the UK rail network, based on an adapted Class 310 four-car unit with a 4-VEP motor car added to enable third rail traction.

Testing was complete by the end of March 2005 and in June the £250 million contract to construct and deliver twenty-eight six-car dual-voltage sets was awarded to Hitachi Rail Europe by the SRA, rising to twenty nine sets when Dover was added to the roster of domestic services on 29 July 2006. The design of the Class 395 was influenced by the Japanese 400 Series Shinkansen High Speed Train, the prototype for which Hitachi worked on along with Tokyu Car and Kawasaki, and Hitachi's own 885 series A-train aluminium railcar system which had been developed and deployed on high speed routes, as well as commuter and suburban lines. The lightweight, modular design, constructed using friction-stir welding, gave the Class 395 a quiet ride, strong rigidity, improved safety standards and improved air resistance through tunnels, as well as reducing production times to just eight weeks from start to finish. The first completed train, 395 001, arrived at Southampton Docks on 23 August 2007 and was moved to Hitachi's new £53 million maintenance facility at Ashford on 30th August where testing commenced on local lines during October.

On 1st November test running commenced on the CTRL with homologation testing being undertaken by Serco and SNCF International assisting with the testing of signalling systems. By March 2008, 395 001 had been joined by three further sets, with shipping of the main production batch beginning in December 2008. The ORR performance acceptance tests of 4,000 miles fault-free running were achieved six months ahead of schedule, allowing a 'preview' service between London St. Pancras, Ebbsfleet International and Ashford International stations to commence on 29 June 2009. The final three trains arrived in the UK during August 2009, with the final train being delivered to South Eastern on 11 December 2009 just ahead of the official launch of HS1 services on 14th December.

Almost ten years to the day after Class 395 001 preview services commenced, a ceremony at South Eastern's Ramsgate Engineering Depot Open Day on Saturday 8 June officially named Set 395 013 as 'Hornby Visitor Centre', recognising the value to tourism in Thanet that the attraction provides, as well as marking the return to Margate by the manufacturer after an absence of four years.

Item Length - 26.3cm, Width - 36cm, Height - 20.2

1:76 Scale 00 Gauge

Painted Finish

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0225/2858/9896/files/IMG_9495_17ea8e17-a4ed-4a87-90ed-85e9e4e3dbae.jpg?v=1699721167
oxford-rail-or763fo001b-mk3a-coach-fo-br-blue-grey-m11042
OR763FO001B Mk3a Coach FO BR Blue & Grey M11042

The Mk3a coach design was introduced from 1975 for Loco Hauled use across the BR network.
