The units were built at BR's Derby Works from 1954 to 1955. The units were built in various formations, including 12 power-twin 2-car units, 84 power-trailer 2-car units, and four 4-car units. The first units were introduced on services around the West Riding of Yorkshire, namely Leeds to Bradford and Harrogate services from 14 June 1954. Subsequent units were introduced onto services in West Cumbria, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Newcastle to Middlesbrough, Edinburgh to Glasgow and, later, Birmingham to Sutton Coldfield, Bletchley to Buckingham and Banbury, and East London lines services. They were also the last units to run on the Anglesey Central Railway which closed to public traffic in 1964.
These units were an outstanding success, helping to reduce the operating costs of branchlines. Initially they also attracted many more passengers. Between February and October 1956 on the London Midland, they carried 800,000 more passengers than steam in the same period of 1955. The largest increases were on the Buckingham-Banbury, Birmingham-Lichfield, Bury-Bacup, Llandudno-Blaenau Ffestiniog and Manchester-Buxton routes. As such, British Railways ordered many more DMU vehicles from various builders over the next decade, thus helping to eliminate steam locomotives. However, as these units were non-standard compared to other later DMU vehicles, they were subject to early retirement. The last units were withdrawn from normal traffic in 1969, having clocked-up 15 years front line service.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0225/2858/9896/files/IMG_3456_4ded48d7-bc12-41c8-80ec-eb693d1cfa14.jpg?v=1732794345
bachmann-34-751-bulleid-corridor-composite-15-vents-in-br-crimson-cream
34-751 SR Bulleid Composite Corridor 15'' Vents BR Crimson & Cream No.S5865

The all-new Bachmann Branchline Bulleid Coaches have been designed from the rails up and these stunning models capture every element of Bulleid’s modernistic design to a tee. Post nationalisation BR built over 10,000 containers which continued into service until the arrival of the modern standard ISO containers in the 1960s.

FEATURES

Diecast Chassis

Compensation beam for smooth running

Sprung metal buffers

Sprung couplings

Diecast 3 hole wheels with blackened steel tyres.

Wheels suitable for fine standard track

Expertly applied livery

Vacuum Fitted Morton brake gear—Both Vacuum & non-fitted

SPECIFICATIONS

OPERATOR BR

RUNNING NUMBER B735233

COUPLINGS 3-Link

PAINT FINISH Pristine

MEASUREMENTS

LENGTH 137mm

The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) A1 Class is an English class of 0-6-0T steam locomotive. They could be supplied to the customer's specific requirements, with a skip size ranging from 13.5 to 54 cubic feet (0.38 to 1.53 cubic metres), and in most track gauges. The design allows the skip to tip in either direction, perfect for small industrial railways that needed to move and unload materials quickly and efficiently. The company even boasted that at any one time several thousand could be supplied from stock! Now, we (and even Peco) won't claim here to have "several thousands in stock" but what we can tell you is that they are supplied in an attractive display box of three. In all 38 GWR diesel railcars were produced from 1933 to 1942 at three different sites with three surviving into preservation.

ELECTRICAL FEATURES

Operating Directional lighting

Operating passenger compartment lighting which includes working wall lights

Cab light

Two running light configurations

On appropriate models the lamp bracket can be exchanged for a working tail lamp for prototypical running

DC control switches for DC control of lighting

Easy DCC fitting via removable plate.

DCC Ready (21 pin) with DCC fitted options available

CHASSIS & BODY

Detailed cab interior

Separate detail (Handrails, Handles and horns where appropriate)

Removable gearbox covers (supplied in accessory pack)

Correct flooring height with prototypical two level seating

Decorated seating

Flush glazing with a single window posed in the slid open position for passenger ventilation

Sliding luggage doors

Vestigial buffers

Heavyweight Diecast chassis

Single, low profile, powerful 5 pole skew wound motor driving a single bogie

All wheel pick up

Engineered for passenger inclusion

O gauge society wheel profiles

Suitable for Radius 2 curves

Expertly applied liveries

SPECIFICATIONS

CLASS Streamlined Diesel Railcar

OPERATOR BR

LIVERY Carmine & Cream

RUNNING NUMBER W8W

WHEEL CONFIGURATION Bo-Bo

PAINT FINISH Pristine

This model is not currently suitable for our DCC decoder fitting service.

The LSWR M7 Class is a class of 0-4-4 passenger tank locomotive built between 1897 and 1911. Drummond designed the class for use on the intensive London network of the London & South Western Railway (LSWR). The locomotive proved to be well suited to such tasks. Because of their usefulness, 105 were built, 95 being built at Nine Elms Works with the remaining ten built at Eastleigh Works. The class went through several modifications over five production batches. For this reason, there were detail variations such as frame length. Many of the class were fitted for push-pull operations, that enabled efficient use on branch line duties.

Under LSWR and Southern Railway ownership they had been successful suburban passenger engines, although with the increased availability of newer standard designs, many of the class were diagrammed to take on a new role as reliable branch line engines, especially in Southern England.

Many of the class also entered service with British Railways. With members of the class lasting in service until 1964, two examples have survived into preservation: number 245, in the National Railway Museum, and 53 (as BR 30053) on the Swanage Railway. The rest of the class were scrapped.
